The Piano

The Piano is a film which tells the story of Ada, a mute, widowed woman, made to move to New Zealand with her young daughter Flora in order to marry Stewart, whom she has never met. In New Zealand, her beloved piano is sold to her neighbour, who is attracted to Ada. Knowing how much Ada needs her piano, Baines (the neighbour) agrees to give the piano back if she gives him piano lessons and accepts other “conditions”. They gradually fall in love and she divorces her husband.

"Devdas", Bollywood's Most Expensive and Successful Film

"Devdas" by director Sanjay Bhansali, is the most expensive (12 million US dollars) indian film ever made with opulent sets, period costumes and melodious music. Since its release the movie has beaten records. Even after several weeks, the movie tickets are hard to get. The film's original costumes are part of a travelling exhibition, and will be auctioned in London. A whole range of "Devdas" brand products are launched in the market. The film is an adaptation of the novel written in 1901 by Sarat Chander Chatterjee. The coveted role is played by the leading Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan as well as former Miss World Aishwarya Rai. Picture shows a rare hand painted billboard of "Devdas", painted by artist Vaidya in central Bombay.
